Privacy Policy

This is a beta-stage placeholder. Amok is in closed beta. This document explains our current practices in plain language, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must be reviewed legally before any public launch.

Amok is a mission-based language-learning app. You practise real conversations with characters, descend through an ocean of topics, and build a passport of completed missions.

During the beta, most data stays on your device (in your browser's local storage). We may collect or store:

• Account data — your name, email, and password (or a Supabase auth session when configured).
• Learning progress — completed missions, XP, streaks, passport stamps, and category levels.
• Language preferences — target/native languages, script display, prompt-language mode, and assistance level.
• Mission attempts — your responses, scores, and mistakes, used to give feedback and track progress.
• Feedback — anything you send through Send Feedback or Help / Contact Us.
• Local data — your progress is cached on your device and can be cleared at any time.

Amok is building AI-assisted conversation and audio (speech) features. When enabled, your typed or spoken responses may be sent to an AI provider to evaluate them. Cached evaluations are stored to reduce cost and latency. Audio recordings themselves are not stored — only the transcript and its evaluation. This section is a placeholder and will be expanded as those features ship.

We use your data to run the app: to save your progress, personalise difficulty and language support, and improve Amok during the beta. We do not sell your personal data.

• You can export everything Amok knows about your account as JSON from Profile → Privacy & data.
• You can delete your account and all local data from Profile → Privacy & data.
• You can clear cached AI responses from the same section.
